Supernova
Sci-fi FPS based around fast-paced movement, upgrades, and an expansive level to explore.
Tools used: Jira, Confluence, Discord, Microsoft Excel, Unreal Engine 5
For this project, I worked with 7 other developers over the course of 6 months to create a feature complete FPS.
Early on, our design and art departments started conflicting as one's work wouldn't reflect the other's. To ensure communication and prevent reworks, I organized a meeting between the two to discuss which concepts they liked, their explicit details, and expectations they had for both department's processes and work. Throughout our concept phase, we had these meetings consistently which decreased needed revisions and raised morale amongst the team.
Stars and Silence
Sci-fi/thriller visual novel made in Arcweave engine for a 72-hour game jam with a 6-person team.
Tools used: Notion, Discord, Google Drive, Arcweave
For this game, I needed to work with 5 developers I'd never met before to create a full game in 72 hours.
The game was a visual novel and had 3 total writers. We outlined the story beats we wanted before I split them into 8 sequences which were then split amongst 2 writers while the third would act as an editor. To make sure everyone's time was being used most effectively, we frequently checked in on other's work through Discord to make sure the separate pieces fit together cohesively in addition to re-assigning work through Notion based on each developer's strengths as we got to know one another better.
Game Design Document
Whispering Woods Minecraft Mod
A fantasy Minecraft mod featuring a new biome, mobs, and flora.
Tools used: Jira, Discord, Canva
This assignment had our team of 10 making a feature-complete Minecraft mod within 11 weeks.
Since our team had 2 producers, we divvied up work amongst the two of us. My co-producer would handle the communication aspects and talk to the various teams while I would document any and all updates as well as maintain our backlog and run meetings.
Scorched
A short-film about a brother and sister during a heat apocalypse
Tools used: Google Sheets, Adobe Photoshop
I acted as Assistant Director, which is closer to a game producer than a film producer is, for this project with a crew of 28 people.
We were running behind schedule as the lighting team took more time than anticipated setting up for our first few shots on our first day. I discussed this with our director, gaffer (lighting), and director of photography who were reluctant to cut any shots from our shooting. After explaining our two options of either rushing the rest of our shots or cutting some so we can spend more time on important ones, we worked together to choose which shots we could afford to cut and the priorities of the remaining ones.
